LIO
and GIO "Seperate and together" 2008
The latest recording
of the London Improvisers Orchestra, but this time combined
with the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra. The orchestras both
played seperately to start with and for the final set they
joined together so as to make an orchestra of nearly 60 people.
David was one of the four people chosen to conduct the massed
ensemble and his piece is entitled "811 Joint Response" |
Akafree trio "freedom of the city 2006" 2007
Recorded at the 2006 Freedom of the city festival,
one track by Chefa Alonso (Saxophone), Javier Carmona (percussion)
and David Leahy.

David Leahy solo “finger painting” 2006
This album consists of compositions and improvisations
that display the wide range of David's musical ability, that
he has cultivated performing regularly as a free improviser
and as an accompanist and composer for dance. In particular,
the album is full of examples of his unique style of looping,
that has loops coming and going without you really noticing.
A great album for repeated listening

"solo + FoA. 1" 2005
FoA (Fate of Animals) is a new music ensemble
that aims to mix compositional elements with free improvisation.
It features David (db, loops and samples),
Aaron Robertson (guitar), Javier Carmona (percussion), Angeline
Conaghan (voice) and Ashley Wales (electronics). On this
first recording however it only features Aaron and David
but a new recording is due out at the end of this year.
With
the slow controlled buildup of the two pieces and the constant
shifting of musical focus between the two of us, this recording
still excites me as does every opportunity we get to play
together. |
