Our work

We have been working as artistic practitioners and creativity in education consultants to Creative Partnerships in the United Kingdom, an orgainisation established in 2000 to impliment sustainable change in the education sector. seethrewmusic has been delivering workshops and impacting on curriculum activities in schools for over 5 years.

Creative Consultancy

seethrewmusic have extensive experience in promoting effective and sustainable exchange between creative industries and the education sector which has created opportunity for further development of children at all levels. seethrewmusic is passionate about sharing their learning.

seethrewmusic offer one to one meetings, alongside group Q&A sessions for professionals and managers in educational, gallery and teaching settings.

Collaboration and partnership

seethrewmusic works closely with other small organisations that promote New Zealand culture and/or artistic endeavours that are based on historic themes.

Education and performance talks
 

 

seethrewmusic provides four workshops and one consultation service related to The Pioneers performance.

The following workshops are organic and develop from session discussion and exercises in storytelling, creative writing, poetry, history, music, art and drama.

Unique performance pieces are created through group participation, collaboration & teamwork. Themes & ideas outlined can be facilitated with various ages ranging from nursery, primary, secondary schools to adult groups.

workshop one: Origins & Identity
Starting with the use of poetry, personal history and images in 'The Pioneers', we reflect on each other’s unique origins and individual identities. We use this content to explore different methods of presenting creative work.

workshop two: A Great Journey
Participants recreate history and the experiences of great adventurers to New Zealand: Kupe, The Maori, Abel Tasman, Captain Cook and 'The Pioneers', Discuss why people embarked on these journeys, how they travelled, dangers encountered during expeditions and what happened upon arrival in New Zealand.

workshop three: New Zealand Words
'The Pioneers' is created from poems & songs by local writers including James K Baxter, Bill Manhire, Jeanne Bernhardt, Michael Jackson, Len Lye & Kath Tait. Discover how innovative and contemporary music making methods bring words to life and engage an new younger audience with these incredible New Zealand writers.

workshop four: Performance Lecture
Based on the shows topics of migration, identity, personal and social struggle and the women’s role, this one hour session contains key extracts from 'The Pioneers' coupled with historical discussion and Q&A elements.
